Class Descriptions

Nursery 1:

Fun, nurturing and creative ballet classes that include dance, drama, music and the use of imagination.  Children will be guided through structured, story-based classes introducing basic ballet positions and steps, balancing, stretching, co-ordination, shapes, posture, working with others and expressing themselves. Teachers use the Royal Academy of Dance’s ‘Dance To Your Own Tune’ syllabus as a guideline.

Children will learn how to twinkle their toes, pirouette like princes and princesses, and reach for the stars!

Age 2 – 3 years old

30 minutes

(Starting age is dependent on teacher assessment in trial lesson)

Nursery 2:

Very similar to Nursery 1 except classes are run at a faster pace and more is expected of the child. It is a bridge level between Nursery and Pre-Primary.

Age 3.5 – 4 years old

45 minutes

Pre-Primary:

RAD syllabus class which starts their journey on a broad, practical dance education that develops technical, musical and performance skills. Students have the opportunity of taking a Class Award at this level whereby they perform their exercises in front of an examiner and get constructive feedback. The teacher goes in to the Class Award with them and there is no pass or fail and they all get a certificate and medal. It is a very rewarding, positive, confidence-building experience.

Age 4 – 5.5 years old

45 minutes

Primary:

First level of RAD syllabus whereby they can take an Examination. They perform in groups for an examiner and are awarded Distinction (Gold), Merit (Silver) or Pass (Bronze), receiving a certificate and a medal.
