Cariad Ballet's Covid Updates

A big hello and distanced hug to you all! I hope you are safe, well and enjoying things starting to open up and slowly get back to a sense of normality. Everyone's support with the virtual dance classes during lockdown was amazing, thank you so much. Your positive feedback, photos, videos and messages were much appreciated and kept us motivated to expand our online content; keeping everyone progressing, creating and dancing at home. I hope you have enjoyed your summer break. We are now ready to share some exciting news:

We are restarting in-person, on location, actual, proper dance classes!

Hurrah!!!

Our wonderful teachers are back in the studio teaching stimulating, challenging and fun dance classes for the following levels:

  • Nursery Ballet (2.5 - 4.5 years old)

  • Pre-Primary Ballet (4.5 - 5.5 years old)

  • Primary Ballet (5.5 - 6.5 years old)

  • Grade 1 Ballet (6.5 - 8 years old)

  • Adult Ballet Fitness, Stretch & Barre-Core (all levels)

  • RAD Intermediate vocational syllabus

  • RAD Advanced 1 vocational syllabus

We operate in London studios located in Borough, Elephant & Castle, Brixton and Harrow.

Term Dates:

8th September - 10th December 2020

Half term break is the week of 26th October for all classes except vocationals

Please get in touch to register and secure your place in the class

Covid Risk Assessment - new procedures put in place to keep you as safe as possible returning to class

- The studio, barres and any commonly touched surfaces such as door handles around the building will be cleaned with antibacterial wipes/spray before, in-between and after classes

- The teacher will use hand sanitiser before and after each class and have spare on hand for parents and students

- Parents will not be allowed to wait inside the building during their child's class. Just drop off and pick up permitted. Please arrive just a few minutes before your child's class and be ready to pick them up promptly

- Anyone over the age of 11 will be asked to wear a mask around the building, unless exempt. Masks will not be compulsory to wear in class as students will be socially distanced by 2 meters in a ventilated environment

- A ventilated environment will be achieved by leaving doors and windows open and the use of a fan if needed

- Students must come ready dressed for class (ballet clothes under regular clothes in order to minimise time in toilets. No changing area will be offered. Quick changing of regular shoes into ballet shoes will be permitted

- Class sizes will be limited to allow for adequate social distancing whilst exercising indoors. This will remain flexible whilst government guidelines continue to change

- Class times will be slightly altered to allow for breaks in-between classes, no class cross-overs and to minimise overcrowding in the building

- The teacher will wear a mask around the building and visor during class

- The teacher will mark out the floor and barres into zones for the students to maintain distance during class

- There will be no hands-on corrections, partner/group work or props used. Children will be physically helped only if absolutely necessary and in line with heath & safety procedures

- Floor work will be omitted this term until further notice. If it is necessary students will be asked to bring their own pilates mat or towel

- Each individual building / location / studio's rules must be followed, such as one-way systems, entry and exit points,  socially distanced waiting areas, limits for using lifts, changing rooms etc

- Please limit the amount of things you are bringing into the building e.g. bags, scooters. Nothing is permitted inside the studio apart from water bottles for vocationals and medication if applicable. This is with the exception of the Brixton studio where the adults can bring their things in as usual - you will be required to wipe down your cubby hole with an antibacterial wipe provided after you have finished using it

- The teacher will of course not come and teach if displaying any Covid symptoms or if asked to isolate because of track and trace. In this instance I will find a cover teacher if possible. If that is not possible then either a live Zoom class or pre-recorded class video will be provided to make up for the missed class

- If any student / person bringing a student / someone in their home bubble has symptoms of Covid-19, is asked to isolate due to track and trace or indeed tests positive for Covid-19; they cannot attend class. This will be categorised as 'illness' and as as per usual we cannot supply a refund to you for this. I could send you a past pre-recorded class video from our online Summer Term library if desired to make up for the lost class

- If a child starts to display symptoms of Covid-19 during class they will be isolated from the other students immediately and parents/guardians contacted to pick them up. Please make sure your contact details are up to date.

- If anyone does not adhere to our or the building's covid safety measures they will be asked to leave. There will be zero tolerance as everyone's health and safety is our number one priority

- If we are all put into another lockdown then we will continue to provide the classes at the usual time via Zoom for you/your child to participate at home. No refunds can be given as this would be categorised as 'an act of god', completely out of our hands, and we would still be providing you/your child with a class and therefore continuing to provide our service. We would resume in-studio classes as soon as permitted to do so and following the government guidelines at the time.
